Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any advice or input as to the prepayment plans for IVF. I looked into this company called ARC and they have these plans that are for 1, 2 and 3 IVF treatments. It includes one fresh and one frozen transfer for each respective plans. My doc said it was going to be a ballpark figure of $12k to do IVF, but I have a feeling he is not adding the meds into the figure. I have heard it runs more. I was wondering if anyone out there has utilized these plans and if it was a good plan for them.
I was diagnosed with slight PCOS and am 32. I was thinking the chances are good that I may conceive with just one cycle but the cost would be high if I had to do it a couple of times. The previous treatments of clomid and bravelle have made my cycles extremely long, my last cycle ended at 40 days. I've been on clomid and bravelle and IUI for two full cycles and the doc thinks the best option for me is IVF. I was diagnosed with PCOS and I was told it affects my weight and so forth but I am barely 105 lbs. I feel like I am in fairly good health and it could happen but in weight the options I dont mind paying a little more than one cycle for a little bit of insurance but I dont know if it is a lose/lose situation. I called and they said the prices for the 1 cycle plus was approximately $11.5k, 2 cycle for $20K, and 3 cycle for 26.5K.
I need to make a decision soon so if anyone has any input, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

sorry i have been busy, but here is the full 411 of what I've learned.
the website for the company is http://www.arcfertility.com/family_building/index.html
You should check with your own fertility clinic as I did with mine and they have their own shared risk plan as well, slightly less expensive than ARC. I think its expensive either way because the ballpark figure for IVF is $13k, the meds will run $4k to $5k, those insurance plans only cover the procedures not the meds and testing, so you are looking at spending another 5k to 6k for the insurance for a second and third procedure.
It makes sense for me to do the insurance because I am going to have the doctor place a minimal amount of embryos as I do not want multiple births and likelihood I would have to do it a couple of times.
Have you become exasperated by the whole expense? I have, I just stopped counting how much it all costs because it might give me second thoughts about that kid.
