First of all, my name is Melissa (33) and I'm married to DH James (34) for just under 2 years now. I have one DD Morgan (12.5) from a previous relationship. I'm very happy to have found this board!!!!
Okay, well, here's my issue:
My doctor put me on clomid a little while back. Well, the 1st cycle I was told to take ONE 50mg tablet per day. Then, AF came in 30 days (soooo, this is very good for me, considering I had any where from 28-60 day cycles before I started clomid!). The 2nd cycle, I was told to take TWO 50mg tablets per day....fine! Most women I know are on 100mg, so no biggie. Well, AF showed again in 30 days....so, now I'm thinking that clomid is doing the trick, right? But, my Dr. doesn't think so apparantly....SHE PUT ME ON THREE 50mg TABLETS NOW!!!! Does this make sense?!?!?!?! I called the office and she said that if I don't conceive this month, I'll have to take FOUR 50mg tablets, then after that....she'll refer me to an infertility specialist. I just don't know why I have to take so much, so soon. I'm confused....I mean, is that much clomid increasing my chances of becoming pregnant? OR is it just making sure that I'm ovulating? Does the # of eggs increase with more meds. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks soooo much for any info/suggestions you may have!

Hello and Welcome Melissa!
I'm so sorry to hear that you are having issues TTC.
i am new here also but just wanted to put in some questions and what i thought.
this is normal only if you are not ovulating. do you know if you are or aren't? when i took clomid it made my cycles shorter (28 days) but i wasn't oing at all. so i went up to 150 mgs. that still didn't work and i took it to the limit so i had to stop. if it is making you ovulate then the lowest dosage it did would be fine it can just take awhile for you to get pregnant. i don't know if that made since to you at all. i believe they give you 6 months but i can't remeber now been awhile. good luck though i hope the clomid works for you!
Loving wife since March 26, 2005!
