I had my RE appointment yesterday with regards to my bloodwork that was done at my first appointment. A little background about me, I had two early miscarriages, one in 1999 and one in 2000. My husband and I have not been able to get pregnant since then. So I finally made the decision to see a RE, well it appears that I have what is known as 5-10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase better known as MTHFR. I have the MTHFR C677T, this gene is responsible for absorbing folate. The C677T mutation is linked to increased homocysteine levels and recurrent miscarriages. The doctor stated that is probably was caused my two miscarriages. He has placed me on Folgard tablets. I take one tablet twice a day with my prenatal vitamins. When I get a positive pregnancy test, I will have to take Lovenox 40 mg a day. This is an injection. He stated that I would at least have to take this injection along with my Folgard tablets and prenatal vitamins through my first trimester. I can continue to take Lovenox all the way through my pregnancy if I wish. He stated that a lot of women does this since they are scared to stop taking Lovenox in case of a miscarriage. The only downside of taking it through the entire pregnancy is if I go into labor and I have taken an injection within 36 hours, I cannot have an epideral. Apparently, if I get an epideral and I have the Lovenox still in my system, I can be paralyzed.
So when I get my period around the 28th of this month, I will start my Brovelle injections on day three continue through day 4, 5, 6 and 7 and on day 8 I will go in for an ultrasound and bloodwork to see how my follicles to see if they need to increase/decrease the Brovelle or if I can get my shot of ovidrel which will start my ovulation in the next 36 hours. After the ovidrel they will perform the IUI and then I will start my daily shots of Lovenox. He wants me to start the Lovenox before I even find out that I am pregnant just in case that I am pregnant so I do not miscarry before the test come back pregnant.
I was hoping that maybe someone would be able to provide me with a little insight in anyone has ever gone through any of this. I am beginning to feel like a science expierment.
Thanks,
Tanya
