Losing Hope

Hi, I just joined ivillage today. My friend has been telling me about it for quite some time. I am one of the many who already post on this board who hasn't been able to conceive for several years now. It's really hard talking to people that haven't been through it because THEY JUST DONT UNDERSTAND. "Be patient and it will happen, you're stressing too much, etc."
Do you want to hear the saddest statistic ever? I'm 29 years old and have NEVER used birth control. If that doesnt make me barren, I dont know what does.
Although we've been trying for years and years, my husband and I just recently started fertility treatments and its month/cycle 2 right now. I'm already losing hope and thinking it will never happen. I cant tell you how many friends, family members, etc I've seen that come to me and say "Ooops, I'm pregnant." And as much as I try to be happy for them I cant help but wonder when it will be my turn.
Anyhow, my purpose for posting this message is just to ask one question. How long does it take before you completely lose hope and think it just wasn't meant to be? Why can I not be positive no matter what I do? The negativity just won't go away. Sigh. Okay, that was two questions so I cheated. :-) The world is certainly a funny place. Women are having abortions every day yet there are those of us that have prayed our hearts out and are still waiting.
Thanks for listening. Back to work now.
