Not sure what to expect

My husband have been trying for over 2 years to have a baby.  We have both had tests done and the Dr's say we are both fine.  After 2 years and still no luck we have decided to try the next step.  My obgyn is sending me to a reproductive specialist.  I am really nervous and do not know what to expect.  Can any one let me know what I can expect for my first visit?  I am so new to all of this and don't know which way to turn or what to expect.  Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I can tell you how it was for us. We are in Canada. The first things that went through was all the testing to make sure that all was OK. In our case the issue is that my husband has a low sperm count. They did all the x-rays and blood tests and my personal favorite is the internal ultra sounds (the x-ray was not fun either). In our case we get to use IUI to conceive. I get in internal ultra sound to make sure there is no cyst on my day 1. They have me take femera (7.5mg) for 5 days starting on my day 2, at the end of my five days they do another internal ultra sound to see how many follicles there are. This time around there are 5 follicles. My husband has been tacking serophine for 6 months. When my follicles reach 18mm they schedule the IUI for the next day. I get to take a shot of 10 000 units of HCG to release the follicles and the next morning they do the IUI. They take my husbands sperm spin it ans wash it and separate the good (best)ones from the bad and then they insert them into me (like any normal pelvic exam). If it well timed it is no big deal. We get to do two inseminations hear, one the day after the HCG and the other the day after that. From there we wait two weeks to get a blood test to see if it worked.

We went through this 3 years ago and it worked on the first try. We are now trying for number two.

Good luck to you and don't be worried. Most of the people that work in this field tend to be really nice.

Good luck

Hi,

I'm brand new to message boarding, so forgive me if I don't know/use all of the acronyms.

Hi, Not sure if you've had your first visit yet but if not, here are some things I would recommend.

My first visit w/the RE was a consultation & DH was w/me. 2 days later I went in for HSG (my RE moved quickly but not to rush me. He was wonderful & I had the best experience w/him). Each time I went in for an appointment they would take blood

I, too, have a competitive girlfriend/BF who turned up pregnant.
