Sounds like she is just looking for a free gift for her daughter. I wouldn't even bother sending a gift. I would just reply that you are unable to attend and leave it at that. She didn't have the courtesy to respond to you nor be sensitive to your situation. People like that don't deserve presents in my opinion.

I have to agree with the others on this, it seem to me that she is looking for a free gift and warm bodies to sit in the chairs. I personally would not go or feel that I need to get her daughter something. If you feel that you really need to bye something, might I suggest a card.

As far as baby showers go, we are lucky to be blessed with a daughter. When we had a shower we insisted that it be a Jack and Jill. So my DH got to be there as well as my dad and my brother and ever other man that is in our life and important to us. Every body had a great time. Where my DH works, they insisted on having a party for him. They made it a diaper party, everybody had to bring a pack of diapers. We had diapers of every size you can imagine, some of them still don't fit her.

Do what ever your heart tells you to do. What ever you do make sure that you are happy. If you are going to go and be miserable then it is not worth it. You deserve to be happy and comfortable.

If you feel offended, then I wouldn't go, or even send a gift if you don't feel like it. Though I have to say that in some circles, including my in-laws, they host showers that are comprised mainly of friends of the grandmother-to-be, so I don't find that unusual.

I personally feel that anyone going through IF gets a free pass to skip baby showers. Congrats on your BFP and I hope it sticks!!!!
