Hello everyone,
Last October at 36 my husband had a Vas Reversal. All went extremely well. DH is 39 with 2 kids from previous marriage. My doc suggested at my reg visit that I have an FSH test...just to see..
It was 12 and then it was 17 and then 17.7..... We have been thru 1 cycle of clomid, then 2 cycles of folistom injections to no avail. I did create approx 5 follicle with 2 being good each month.
We have surgery scheduled for this month to go in laporscopically to look for endo.
We are so disappointed and discouraged. It seems unbelievable and just crazy that this is my destiny. I am in some sort of denial and only want to think that someway somehow I will get PG.
Any advise out there?
MJ

My DH also had a reversal (although no children previously), and what has happened with us is in addition to me having some issues (PCOS), we think he may have developed antibodies to his sperm. My RE said it's like the little guys are wearing a swimming cap; these little antibodies bind to the heads and make fertilization very, very hard. We figured out that was probably the problem when we did our IVF (failed). They did ICSI on half my eggs (I responded well to the meds) and just put his sperm on the other half to see what would happen. The ICSI went fine, but the more traditional fertilization didn't go. After re-introducing the sperm a second time, finally ONE egg fertilized. Not good for us. So now we know the only shot we have is IVF with ICSI.
I've also been through the HSG, as well as two laps and two hysteroscopies. (The second was due to a dermoid cycst that formed quite suddenly in the middle of that IVF cycle.) The first was awful as the anesthesia and I did not get along. The second was like nothing, even though it was more involved (had to cut the cyst out), because they got the anesthesia right.
I totally get the whole disappointment and denial thing. But I do have to say that if infertility treatments never worked, people wouldn't do them. There is a strong possibility that we'll get PG! And while we go through the process we have each other to go through it with us, if only virtually. :)
Good luck as you move on through your treatments. We're here.
I had the first test in October 07 that was 12.1. I freaked out.
The second test was one month later was lower because I had an ovarian cyst. The next month was 17. and the month after that was 17.7. This past month was falsly lowered again due to another cyst.
The doc said they like to take an average of 3 months and they use the highest number.
8 is a good number. What he told me was that under 10 was great. 10-12 was oK and over 12 was poor.
Good luck, but get
