Intro - Dealing with male infertility

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about six months. I took Clomid for three months and had a bunch of tests done to find out that everything is ok with me and the next step was to get DH SA done. Almost a month ago, we found out the results of his SA which was not good at all. His results were bad in all areas they look at. They told me he needs to see a urologist and we scheduled the first available appointment which isn't until May.
So, here we are a month later and I still am not sure how to deal with this. I'm trying to tell myself that whatever it is could be fixable, but the wait of another month seems like eternity. We've been trying to be proactive and switched him from briefs to boxers and he started taking some supplements.
It seems like we've got a long road ahead of us, and I'm looking for any advice anyone who has dealt with this can give me - anything from how to get your mind off of this to anything else we can do to be proactive?
Thanks in advance.

Julia,
Welcome to the board. I am new here too and just a little farther along than you in the infertility world. My husband and I have been trying since Jan '07. He gave his first sample at the end of February. The results, not so hot. Low semen volume, low sperm count and morphology of much of the sperm that were present. So he was referred to an urologist also. He had his first appointment last week. His sample then should low semen volume, but the sperm that he did have were good this time. He did have sperm in his urine also, indicating some retrograde ejaculation. Physical exam was normal. Went last Friday to have hormone levels drawn. He returns to the urologist on Wednesday and we will hopefully have plan/diagnosis. There is a slight chance they may need to do a transrectal ultrasound to look for a blockage. My ob and the urologist have both mentioned possible IUI.
I agree, the waiting sucks. All you want to do is move forward. What makes me feel somewhat better is that now we know
Katie,
Thanks for the response and for your encouragement.
Julia,
The waiting sucks doesn't it. I agree with you, I think hobbies etc are going to be helpful. Anything to stay busy to keep our minds off of everything that is going on.
We at least find out a game plan from the urologist tomorrow. Continuing to move foward slowly but surely.
I don't think my husband did anything but practice :) I think he was worried about performance anxiety with the 2nd sample.
It was nice to hear from you and I would love to keep in touch. Hang in there.

ladies
I just wanted to recommend
dear julia,
let me first say that i feel for you. we found out last winter that DH has azoospermia (sperm count of zero). the urologist we saw thinks he has a congenital absence of the vas deferens, meaning the sperm has no way to get out. dh had a procedure called TESA, where they basically go in with a needle and extract the sperm. this meant our only option was ivf with icsi. we did 2 rounds that failed, and are now in the middle of our 3rd round using part donor sperm. i never thought i would be okay with that, but once we were faced with the fact that dh could not make any sperm that will do what they need to do, we feel lucky to just have this option. hopefully things will not be as extreme for you guys, but know that you'll do whatever you need to to have a family.
all the best,
anna.

mom to beautiful baby lia. Thanks for the introduction. If you dont mind me asking, do they have a diagnosis for your husband or is the cause unknown? We just found out today that my hubby has low testosterone levels so the urologist wants to try clomid for three months. We agreed but I am going to do my research. Dont want to spend my time on something that isnt going to work.
Good luck with you IVF.

Julia,
So my hubby had his appointment today. He is excited, me not so much. We got his lab work back and his testosterone levels are low. So urologist wants him to try clomid for three months to see if it stimulates semen production. I asked him how effective it is but didn't get a great answer.
Hi, Katie,
I don't know if I can blame your hubby for not wanting that ultrasound, but at the same time I know how you feel, like maybe that would've showed something more definite.
Anna,
Thanks for sharing your story!
Thanks for investigating for me. That was very nice of you. I found that same site today when I was doing my own research. Yes, my husband does have low testosterone levels. So at
