Hi,
I am new to this message board. I am 39 and TTC for the first time. I have been charting for 5 months and am noticing I have a short luteal phase (9-11 days). I am wondering if anyone else has this? What treatments have you tried? Where you able to conceive? Any thoughts or feedback would be most welcome. I am also concerned it will be further complicated by my age.

Thanks,
Kerry

Hello,
My name is Kathryn and I'm new to this board too. I'm 30 and have had two miscarriages in the past 10 months. My last was in March and I just went to the Dr. this week to discuss what is going on. I never had trouble getting pregnant but just could not seem to hold the pregnancy. I brought my charts to my Dr. and she said my Luteal phase is too short (10-11 days) and she suspect this is the problem. We are going to start testing after I get my first period (this cycle is all messed up from the miscarriage). The testing is mostly bloodwork at certain times in my cycle and then a day before I start my next period we will do a biopsy of the uterus to check the thickness of the lining. If everything confirms a Luteal defect we will start with Clomid followed with progesterone after I ovulate and hope that does the trick. So that is what my plan of attack is. I hope it works! I'd love to hear from others with this issue too.

My luteal phase is also considered too short by my obgyn

Thanks to those of you who have posted so far. I am actually going to meet with my Obgyn on May 1st. My husband and I just started trying recently so I have nothing to base my concerns on except that I have been charting for 5 months and have had 3 of those months be under 12 days, one was only 9 days!

I am curious if anyone out there has been able to conceive and carry successfully despite having a short luteal phase?

Hi Kerry,

I'm sorry I don't have a complete success story for you, but I do have a partial one. ;) I too have a short luteal phase...mine is usually about 7 days long! With progesterone support, injectable medications, and IUI, I was able to conceive twins! Unfortunately I went into preterm labor and lost them.

HI! I've been charting with my Dr. for about 9 months and I have a similar problem. It was determined that I have low progesterone. But a LP of 9-11 days isn't that bad. YOu may want to try Vitex-it's an herb that you can find in any health food store which supports progesterone. I also changed my diet and cut out all gluten, which has really helped.
