What a racket!!!!

Now I will be the first to say that I think it is wonderful that my insurance covers IF.
That being said our benefits have a cap (1 for treatments & 1 for drugs). The issue I have is that the insurance only lets us order fertility meds thru 1 pharmacy. Today I found out that this pharmacy charges alot more for their drugs.
After this round of meds we will be at our cap. The rep I spoke to advised me of this & said that when people have to pay out of pocket they recommend another pharmacy (by name). I asked why & she said that the gonal F (FSH) pen is around $300+ cheaper at the other pharmacy.
Drug companies & insurance companies = the modern day Bonnie & Clyde, ugghh!!

Christine,
I completely agree with you it is just unconscionable the amount of money they make off of people like you & me.
There are so many
Izzy,
Don't you just love it when the pull the "we just realized" card? When I ordered my meds last week the rep never said that the microdose lupron was not covered but when I called yesterday I got the "we just realized" speech too...Ahhh!!
Oh well I won't have to worry about dealing with them if there is a next time. Since we are at our cap going forward will have to pay out of pocket & there is no way I would use them since they are ridiculously over priced.
Hope you are doing well:)

Faith ,
The fact that you have to buy something out of pocket for it to be cheaper than using your own insurance is just ridiculous!!
How they sleep at night I will never know!

My insurance will only cover my "specialty" meds if I order from "their" pharmacy...with my deductibles and copay (which they put on EACH med ordered) I spend less by just paying for it out of pocket from one of the discount specialty pharmacies.
You're right though, its a racket.
