No Heartbeat

Yuck! The ultrasound appointment did not go as I had hoped.

There was no heartbeat and the baby measured only 6 weeks 1 day…..and at this point, they should be able to see a heartbeat and it should be a little bit bigger.   So we spent a long time waiting for the doctor to talk to us and he was shocked by this report.  He said my previous blood work numbers were perfect and he doesn’t understand how this happened.  We will go back next Tuesday for another ultrasound….just in case it is was a little too early to see the heartbeat today.  The Doctor said he did not want to give us false hope, because he said that in most cases like this, the pregnancy is not viable, but in 10%-15% they are surprised to see a heartbeat at the second ultrasound.  So, it doesn’t look good for this one.

It just plain stinks.  Sorry to be a downer.  Thanks for all your prayers and support – it means a lot to me.

Monica, I'm thinking about you and hoping that your LO is just a slow starter too. I know it's hard to hang on to hope, but there still is a chance. Fx'd (((big hugs)))

Monica, I can relate to how difficult it is to think that you might have to start over.

Just thinking of you! I know this wait is hard. You know I think going by your ER date gives you a couple of extra days, days where it may be still too early for the hb. At least that is my h&p for you.

Thanks Heather.

I have fun plans for the Friday night and all day Saturday, so I think Monday will be the worst of the days for the waiting.

Thanks Lori,

Monica,

After seeing your post about the confusion of how far along you are I am really hopeful that the dates may have been off.

I thought the RE's always use the ER date as the date of O and then calculate from there.

I can understand that you don't want to let your mind think things will be ok. I would be the same way.

Keep my FX for you!
