Ovidril vs. HCG shot

We are doing a natural FET in May. I always ovulate late, so my RE wants me to take an HCG shot before the transfer. The last time we tried an FET, I just did an Ovidril shot (sub-q, small needle). The nurse says he prefers HCG, but it is intra-muscular, and I'm not sure I want to do that on my own. Any ideas on why HCG would be necessary?

Cheryl - Ovidrel is an hcg shot - it is just manufactured differently than others so that it can be done sub-q. Perhaps the RE prefers the IM ones better or is looking to change things up a bit for hopefully better results. I have given myself IM injects in the leg and it is not too bad otherwise Dh gives them to me and it's a piece of cake.

Speak to your RE and ask him why the change.
