Back after long break..(m/c,child ment.)

I don't think anyone would remember me, but I posted occasionally on this board a while back. I am almost 35, and we have had one attempted IVF that was cancelled due to a poor response. I had only produced 3 or 4 follicles with one being dominant. That clinic told me my only hope was donor egg. So, after a lot of thinking, we decided to try one more clinic. We did Lupron flare a.m. & p.m., 3 amps Follistim, 1 amp Repronex,(lower amount than the previous clinic-8 amps total then), and I made sure they wouldn't cancel me for a poor response. (My day 3 FSH was 11.6) So, I only produced 2 nice follicles and one smaller one, and they let us decide between IVF and IUI. We went ahead with the retrieval, and they retrieved 2 eggs on Monday (third follicle was empty or immature). They did ICSI on both, and both fertilized. We had our 2 day transfer yesterday morning and are hoping for a great outcome. We feel like we have been very lucky so far. My beta is in 2 long weeks!!

We do have one son from a natural Clomid cycle. He is almost 4, and we tried 2 1/2 yrs. for him, with 2 miscarriages. I am feeling a little guilty about not really having bed rest, but my doctor told me I could go sky-diving if I wanted to. Needless to say, I am not doing that! This clinic doesn't make you rest right after the transfer either. They just send you right home. Does anyone elses clinic do that? I am trying not to dwell on it.

Just wanted to re-introduce myself and tell everyone good luck. I hope we all have great outcomes.

Hoping this cycle is THE ONE for you! Good luck! Just wanted to tell you that the place I'm going for IVF #2 (St. Barnabas in NJ) has you rest for a half hour there after transfer, but they don't recommend bedrest after you leave. Beside avoiding excessive heat/alcohol/smoking/drugs, I don't think there are any other restrictions in the 2ww. And they're known to be one of the best places in the US for IVF. I really like and trust them. Hope that makes you feel a little better!

Gina - Welcome Back. Sounds like the switch in RE did the trick. I hope that this cycle ends your waiting to give the sibling you so desire for your son. Keep us posted.

I had zero bedrest with my IVF after my transfer and in the 2WW. After the transfer I even got right up and went pee and was freaking out that the embryos would be gone, but my daughter is one month old today! I did take it easy the day of the transfer, but that was it. Remember your uterus is like a peanut butter sandwich, they just lift up one of the pieces of bread and stick the embies in and close the sandwich back up for maximun stickiness. I know that was a visual that helped me.

Good luck and I am glad that you trusted yourself and went ahead with the IVF. My friend had elevated FSH (way elevated) and they told her that she had 0% chance of having a baby and she has a 2yr old son from that IVF. Best of luck,

Annie and Sophia - 1 month old
