doesn't fit????

My daughter was born with varying medical problems including imperforate vagina. When this was corrected surgically at 17 months of age, I had to dilate her vaginal opening for a few months. Now many years later, she has attempted sex her first time and says "it didn't fit". Is this possible? Her period has been no problem for 5 years and she is a regular tampon user.

Almost anything is possible, but we don't have enough information from what you posted to know what her problem is. It sounds as though she will confide in you and the two of you are able to talk about her problem, which is a wonderful thing! If I were you I would go with her to your Gyn and have her get a pelvic and baseline pap. Since she is or wants to be sexually active now is the time to have that done. Your Gyn can see if her vagina is normal enough to accept a partner and if not, can recommend corrective measures. Or, it could be something as simple as being too scared, tight and dry the first time to consumate the act. Let us know what your Gyn says, ok?
Good luck!
Jill
Good luck to you both,
Jill
