Pain during Sex

I have kind of a weird situation. I went off the pill about a month and a half ago. My boyfriend and I haven't been very careful but we do use the withdrawl method. 4 days ago he didn't withdrawl though and 2 days later I noticed slight cramps in my lower abs area. Yesterday when we had sex one position that normally feels fine hurt and I think he hit my cervix. Could this be because of the cervix moving? Am I ovulating? What are the odds that I could end up pregnant from this?

Hi laralie,

If you have been off the pill for 6 or 7 weeks it is quite likely that you have ovulated. I ovulated within 2 weeks after I stopped taking OCs 2 years ago. Withdrawal is not an effective method of contraception. If Aunt Flo is late you can take a test and see where you are. If you don’t want to take hormones you should get on another effective method such as condoms, diaphragm or cervical cap. If your partner hits your cervix straight on it can really hurt so perhaps that’s what happened. If you are interested in seeing what contraceptive methods available look at the Choices on the Planned Parenthood site at: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/bc/cchoices.html Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

You can check your ovulation schedule here on ivillage. Go to the pregnancy calendar and enter the first day of your period. This will calculate the day you should be ovulating. Or.. add 14 days to the day you last started.. that will be give you a good idea. Be more careful! :)
