I went to the doctor and got tested for chlamydia bc my partner said he was having symptoms and his doctor treated him for chlamydia before his results came back..and my doctor did the same. my results came back and they were negative but i continued taking the doxycycline just to be safe unitl his results came back. about five days into the medicine i got a weird discharge..nothing huge and clumpy but white and like lotion. i called the nurse and when i told her what medicine i was on she said it was prolly a yeast infection (ive never had one so i didnt know the signs). i stopped taking the pills (i have three left) and i no longer have the discharge but every now and then i get some iching. shoud i still go and get the monistat or is my body slowly recovering from the mediine on its own?

What form of birth control are you using? If you are on the pill then your antibiotic may have decreased the effectiveness of your pills. You should use back-up for at least 7 days after the last dose of antibiotic. If you aren't on an effective form of contraception you should start using one as soon as possible. If I were you, since this is your first YI, I'd have the doc check and make certain you are using the right med. and if you are using condoms then watch the med. you are given for the YI to make sure it isn't made with oils that could weaken latex condoms. If it is then you should abstain from penile/vaginal intercourse until you stop using the oil base med or use polurethane condoms which oil will not harm. Nothing is easy, is it? Let us know how you are doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
