Hey Tacoma2004,

You were so helpful to Angel27...thought I'd ask you a question.

Its my first examination too. Can i ask that doc not to do the anal examination. I'll literally die out of embarassment. I'm not too good with the names of the parts of vagina. What if he says something and I dont understand the term. Is there a place I could see a diagram with named parts?

Thanks.

Sure you can ask, and if you absolutley refuse the doctor will not and should not do a rectal exam. God knows that it is not the most pleasnt thing to experience but it is a important part of the exam. It allows the doctor to feel parts of your uterus and ovaries that they could not normally feel. So I would recommend to go ahead and just relax and let the doctor perform the rectal examination.

Do a search on Google.com for "first pelvic exam" and that will return thousands of sites related to that subject that has anatomy diagrams with labels, such as:

During your exam just remember to relax, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds and over before you know it.
