yeast infectons & periods

Last month (June 18th) I engaged in sexual intercores without a comdom. That same day, as well as the day following I bought pills to treat a yeast infection. It was the type you insert in the vagina. Now it's July 6th and I have yet to have a period. I did take a pregnancy test on June 29th and it was negative. Did I take the test too soon to tell if I really was pregnant? Did the pills do something to throw my period off course? If you have any ideas as to what is going on with my body I would love to hear from you. Thank you.

I assume you were totally unprotected and you are cycling naturally, right? When was Aunt Flo due to arrive and are your periods regular so you know pretty much when to expect them? Yeast infection medications don’t usually affect the schedule of your period but illness and stress certainly can delay ovulation and therefore your period. Stress from concern about the possibility of being pg might have caused a delay in ovulation. And sometimes we just have an anovulary cycle and AF takes the month off. Taking a pg test 11 days after the event might be a bit early depending which test you used. Most tests are pretty good after 15 days or after you miss your period. Did you use first urine of the day to test with? Any HCG (that’s the pregnancy hormone that is tested for) will be more concentrated then. If I were you and AF doesn’t show in a week I’d take another test to see where you are. If you aren't pg it would be a good idea for you get on an effective method of contraception. Doing that can save you a world of worry! Let us know how you are doing, ok?
Hugs,
Jill
