Sex is uncomfortable

Whenever I have sex, with or without lubricant, it's very uncomfortable, and sometimes painful. It seems like a lot of the time I end up getting an infection of some sort after the fact that involves itching and a strong odor. I have absolutely no sex drive now and that's hard when you're in a long term relationship. I'm just looking for a starting point to figure out what's going on. I plan on dicussing this with my ob/gyn at an upcoming appointment. Thanks for any input!

Hi angel12199, welcome!

Are you small or is he large? With no sex drive are you aroused before penetration? If you aren’t he may be hitting your cervix which can be very uncomfortable. What method of birth control are you using? Is he in a condom? If you are dry you may be tearing a bit which not only is painful but can lead to a greater likelihood of infection. The strong odor sounds like a bacterial infection to me. It’s a really good idea to talk with your gyn about it. S/he can run some tests and find out what is going on. I hope you are feeling better soon. Let us know what your doc. says, ok?

Good luck and hugs,
