HPV and bumps on his penis

I have been diagnosed with low-risk HPV, and have unprotected sex with my boyfriend. He now has bumps on his penis. He went to the doctor, and he said that the bumps were from me and is probably a low grade form of genital warts. He then froze the bumps off of his penis and said that they should go away in a week or so, and if they dont, to call him and he can repeat the process again.

Flash forward to maybe half a week later when my boyfriend and I have sex, and in a moment of stupidity, do not use a condom. The bumps had started disapearing, but after the sex, they stopped going away, and could very well be coming back.

Is it me? Will I give him those stupid bumps everytime we have unprotected sex? If its low-risk HPV, why am I supposedly giving him these bumps? Is there any way to get rid of HPV?

Hi blatz_666, welcome back!

There are many kinds of HPV so the answers to your questions may depend on the type you have. I think you probably can re-infect each other depending on exactly what sort you have. I don't have the expertise to say for sure. It would be a good Idea to ask your doctor the questions you asked here. The ladies on the STD board at http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhsexdisease may also be able to help. Let us know what your doctor says, ok?

Hugs,

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Please read: "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About HPV and ABNORMAL PAP SMEARS", by Joel Palefsky, M.D., with Jody Handley (about $15.00 at Borders bookstore).
