Alcohol, anyone?

This is going to sound funny, but, has anyone here ever noticed a difference in the enjoyment of sex after consuming alcohol?? I feel weird about asking this question. I'm not a heavy drinker or anything, but sometimes my partner and I like to have a few drinks together and then we end up having sex. It's always uncomfortable and painful for me. What gives?? I'm always well lubed up. I don't get it. I know that alcohol can have negative effects on sexual performance but I always thought that was a little more common with men. Maybe part of my problem is that when my partner drinks he seems to get super hard, like more than he usually is when he is sober. Could that be what the difference is?? I wouldn't think that being really hard would be a bad thing!!! Maybe I'm wrong. I always asumed that alcohol could make sex a little more fun, I guess not. Anyone had similar experiences?

I'm not much of a drinker either. I have noticed that after a drink or two I’m not as aware of all the exquisite sensitivities of lovemaking as when I haven't been drinking alcohol. I think alcohol in moderation helps free a person from their inhibitions, but I’ve never needed any help there, at least not with DF. I think too, that alcohol can dry a person out so that might be what you are experiencing. Personally, I enjoy IC much more when I haven’t been drinking.
Take care,
Jill
Jill's right about the alcohol drying you out, though - I sometimes find that when I think I'm well lubricated, turns out to be that I'm well lubricated outside but not as well on the inside, if that makes sense. That's usually when we reach for the lube. Perhaps you want to try adding more lubricant to see if that's the case, even when you think you don't need it?
