Can anyone make any suggestions?

I cant get rid of Bacterial Vaginosis. I have tried the Metronidazole in pill and gel form. It always comes back, ALWAYS. I had this problem for about 2 years now, my doctor keeps treating me and i feel good for about week or two and then the symptons return. My pap and std test come back fine and Im only sexually active with one guy. Could I have something else causing the BV infections? Could my guy get/have this? Help!

Hi bmorebabe, welcome!

Reoccurring BV is a problem in about 25% of the women who get it. You might want to talk with your doctor about treating you with a stronger antibiotic. I understand there is no reduction in the reoccurrence rate of BV by treating the male partner since the bacteria causing BV don’t live very long in his urethra. Here is a link to a good article on BV: http://www.ivillagehealth.com/library/nwh/content/0,,215912_226984,00.html The treatment and prevention sections might be of help. If you are on hormonal contraceptives remember to use back-up when taking antibiotics as some of them may reduce the effectiveness of your protection. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Hugs,
