i'm 34 weeks pregnant and on my second yeast infection of the trimester...eeew...everytime i get one it's because i'm on antibiotics. i was recently put on keflex (sp?) after 2 days in the hospital, being on IVs for a kidney infection...so after being heavily medicated, i had a yeast infection within about a 6 hour period it seemed like. i know that's what it is for sure, i've had them exactly like this before, what OTCs are safe during pregnancy? i'd rather not make a special appt just for this, and my next one isn't until the 21st. the previous times i've been put on an off brand, monistat 7 equivilent (creme). is it fine for me to just to buy more and start it now so i dont have to wait? also, are the sopositories okay? and what can i do to make it certain i dont keep getting them since i'll be on the keflex for a while, and it's a high dosage...? thanks!

Hi vindicatedsvenmom, welcome!

I know this isn’t the answer you want but if I were you I’d be asking my doctor the questions you asked here. It is easy to misdiagnose and possibly make things worse and you don’t want to run that risk, particularly when you are 34 weeks pg. I have found that for me, since I use cervical barriers for contraception which can make you more susceptible to YIs, eating yogurt minimizes my chances of yeast infections. Here is a link to some articles on Yeast infection: http://www.ivillage.com/topics/health/0,,166053,00.html?arrivalSA=1&cobrandRef=0&arrival_freqCap=2

I hope you are feeling better soon. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

      Jill
