Boyfriend had vasectomy, can I be preg?
| Wed, 10-13-2004 - 4:27pm |
Writing here scared to death because I know the feeling of pregnancy all too well...and I feel just as I did when I was pregnant with my daughter, whose now two. My boyfriend and I had sex for the first time three weeks ago and we didnt use any protection because he's had a vasectomy. He assured me there is absolutely NO way he can get me pregnant. I am so extremely fertile though that I'm concerned. My period was supposed to start days ago, and all I'm getting is a pink tinge. I'm always right on time with my period, too. I've been extremely tired as well. Maybe I'm just worrying about it too much which is why I won't start...but he said the chances would be like one in a billion of me getting pregnant.
Any thoughts/help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.....

If I were you I'd test. If you're late you should get an accurate reading and you need to know as soon as possible so you can consider all your options if necessary.
No method of contraception is 100% effective except abstinence so there is a possibility, even with a Vas. How long ago was his operation? If it was fairly recent, in the last several months, he will need to have at least 20 ejaculations and 2 sperm checks over several months by his doctor before you can consider him safely sterile. Or, if his operation was some time ago his tubes could have grown back together.
When you test I hope you get the answer you want. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Jill
