Well- I have been trying to find some type of answer- but I get 30 different ones...maybe someone can help me.

Well for teh past couple of months I have noticed that my discharge has changed. I produce more of it. It is still a normal color (what is normal again?) and I have no other symptoms (itching, burning...) and I think it smells normal (what is it supposed to smell like?).

So I think everything is okay. I got tested back in April at my annual and it came back normal. Do you guys have any suggestions on what it might be??? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi westtexashottie, welcome!

Are you cycling naturally or on hormonal contraceptives? If you are on hormones have you changed pills or methods about the time you noticed the change or have you started or stopped taking medicines or supplements or changed your diet appreciably about the time you noticed the change?

Some Oral contraceptives with very low estrogen or a strong progestin can suppress vaginal discharge. If you stopped taking one of those, then that could be an explanation. Other hormonal methods, NuvaRing for example, often increases vaginal discharge so if you are a new NuvaRing user that that might explain the change. If you see no relationship to any medicines, supplements or diet then you might want to have a talk with your doctor. As long as the discharge is not colored or foul smelling and you aren't itching or burning I think you're probably ok. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Take care,

They changed me from Ortho Tri Cyclen to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. I dont know if that could be the problem. I started taking some vitamens and stuff- but thabk you for your help. I thought I was going crazy.

Thank you so much

I think it was probably the switch to OTC-Lo that changed the amount of your discharge. Different types, (or in this case amounts) of hormones can have that effect.

Good luck,
