Help - no lubrication!

I recently started having sex with a new partner. Both times we had to stop after about 15 minutes because I became completely dry. I started out very lubricated but then it just stopped. I am 25 years old and this has never happened to me before. The only thing I can think of is that it has to do with his size - he is bigger than anyone I have been with before. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I know I can buy lubricants, and I plan to, but am I destined to always have to use them from now on? I used to be able to go for a very long time with other partners so I don't understand what the problem could be.

Hi danigirl1979, welcome!

Have you recently begun using hormonal contraceptives or switched pills or methods, ring or patch? Some hormone formulations can really dry out some women. Size might be a factor but I’m betting it's something else. Did you use condoms with other partners? If your new partner is using a condom (A very good thing until he's tested and found disease free.) that will trap his contribution to your total lube and if you are using textured condoms they could be contributing as well. Don't use an oil base lubes as oil will destroy latex barriers. A good water based lube, (Astroglide or K-Y liquid are both good) or a silicone base lube like Eros Body Glide which works especially well under water is what you need and don't be shy about using plenty of it. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Jill, do silicone based lubes tend to last longer? Thanks!

They do for me... And they last longer under water which is really nice if you are in to IC while diving. One thing I would advise against is using something that is flavored or has a ‘warming’ quality to it. One member who had been using regular lube successfully used a warming lube and she was sensitive to something in it – it felt as though it was burning. It sensitized her to the extent that she was unable to use anything even plain vanilla lube. That doesn’t happen often but it’s a possibility. Let us know what you use and how you like it/them, ok?

Good luck,

First, see your doctor. You want the piece of mind that everything is okay. Second, size should not matter. Do you have enough foreplay? Maybe sex came too fast and you needed more connecting time?

If you want to explore a lubricant, I use a homeopathic product I love (www.korunaturals.com). My problem is bcp...
