still bleeding?!

I lost my virginity on Friday and it's Tuesday and I still have some random bleeding, is this normal or should I do something about it? At first I wasn't too worried about it but now it's been four days and that seems like a long time. Thanks

Hi juxtapose2004, welcome!
I hope you were using an effective form of birth control and, if you weren't absolutely certain that your partner was free of Sexually Transmitted Diseases you should have used condoms as they are the only method than provides protection against STDs.
Have you had a recent pelvic exam and pap smear so that you know everything was ok before you had intercourse?
I don't think, given that it was your first time, it's too unusual to bleed a bit afterward but 4 days seems like a long time. Are you near when your period is due? Sometimes intercourse can start a woman spotting early or bumping her cervix can cause it to bleed. This seems to happen more frequently with women on hormonal contraceptives. If bleeding continues it would probably be a good idea to talk with your doctor and see what s/he says. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Hon, since you are now sexually active it would be a very good idea to have a base line pelvic exam and pap to make sure that everything is as it's supposed to be and your doc could check on the bleeding too. If you don't have a doctor a Planned Parenthood Health center can do the exam and their prices are means tested so if you don't have much income they are deeply discounted. They can also recommend and provide other methods of contraception if you are interested. The PP Health Center finder is: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/Zip.htm Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
