Hi:
Well I have a question!
I been having sex with my boyfriend for about a year, and the other night (Dec25) we were having sex, and when we finished I noticed lots of blood on the sheets, I went to the bathroom and i kept bleeding like when i was going to the bathroom. The next day (Dec26) I bleed a little bit in the morning. I thought it may be my period that came a bit early, but i stopped bleeding that same day!
No blood anymore, I had sex again last night, and no blood or anything. It wasnt painful or anything it was just like any other day, but with blood??????????
Im a bit worried, why would something like that happened. Its the second time that happens to me, the first one was the first time I had sex!
Do you have any idea why this happened?

Hi stargirl23, welcome!
Intercourse can sometimes bring on your period a bit early but if that happens, in my experience, I usually bleed until I finish my period. Have you had a recent pelvic exam? If not you might want to be checked out to see that everything is ok. You guys were using plenty of lube, right? Your hymen may have torn or you could have a small growth that was irritated. Your doctor should be able to see what is causing the bleeding. Let us know what your doctor says, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Hi:
Well, It wasnt my period since it was just that night and the next morning!
I just had an anual exam (including pap smear) last month, they said everything was ok!
Lots of lube.... mmmmmm no!
Ill ask my boyfriend to see if he felt any difference!
My hymen torn? Again? After been active for longer than a year?
What do you mean with a small growth?
Thank you! I would appreciate if you could answer my questions!
Thanks again!
OK, it's good that you just had your annual. I'm trying to think of some things that can cause bleeding during/after sex. If you are on hormonal contraceptives they can sometimes make the cervix more likely to bleed a bit if it's bumped during intercourse. Or, depending on the position(s) you were using and the condition of your hymen it could have torn again. Or, if you weren't well lubricated you might have developed tiny tears in your vaginal wall. If that happens, you will usually feel some burning. Tearing can easily happen if he is wearing a textured condom and you are dry. Good intimate lubes such as Astroglide or K-Y Liquid work very well if that’s the problem. You should use a water base lubricant if you are using condoms or other latex barriers as oil based lubes can cause rapid deterioration of the latex. By small growth I meant a mole, wart or nodule that he might have irritated. That sort of thing is usually picked up during an annual. If bleeding occurs again then, if I were you I'd go to my doctor and see if s/he can find the cause. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
