what is regular discharge?

I try to ask my doctor about this when i go but i never really get the answer i need before my verbal skills freeze due to embarassment. I'm not sure if this problem got a lot worse once i went on the pill or if it's just progressively got worse over time but i am having more and more discharge. Its either yellow, thin and creamy or white thick and chunky and most times there is evidence of both. The white discharge gets stuck in the crevicise, especially around my clitoris, and irritates the skin. I'm at the point where the moment me and my boyfriend get in the mood i have to go to the bathroom with a baby wipe and wipe very throughly....that is if i'm not in too much pain. Even then i get self cauntious because i never know what will end up all over his hand or whatever once he's touched me. Sorry to be so grafic! I'm just desperate for help!

Hi vitamix, welcome!
What I consider ‘natural’ discharge is anything that is clear, white or cream colored that doesn't have a scent to it. Yellow, greenish, thick or cottage cheesy with a bread-like yeasty or fishy aroma or accompanied by itching or burning usually signals an infection of some sort. A woman's discharge can vary depending where she is in her cycle regardless of whether she's on hormonal contraceptives or not. While we usually hear of hormonal contraceptives decreasing a woman’s discharge and natural lube there have been reports of women experiencing more discharge and lube while on hormones. That may be what is happening to you.
I cycle naturally and during my estrogen peak I sometimes get thick white discharge which my Gyno says is just a sign of being highly estrogenic. If your discharge has a scent is itchy or it burns you need to be tested to see if you have an infection. There is no need to be self conscious; your doctor treats this sort of problem every day. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
My SO insists "no soap" in this area. She rinses with plain water...no bubblebath either. Your baby wipes maybe irritating you or making a minor problem worse.
My SO trims but does not shave. She keeps "that" hair 1/8-to-3/16" long using comb and scissors followed by a beard trimmer with a 1"-wide cutter blade. A plastic guard on the trimmer controls the length left behind...she experiences NO irritation from grooming in this way and there is no odor from urine or her periods even tho she never uses soap "down there"
