Here is some background information:
So I had sex with a new boyfriend for the first time about two months ago and then I got my period in December. I experienced itching in the vulvar area and kind of a tingling feeling when I had a tampon in. I went to the doctor and she thought I was allergic to something and prescribed antibiotics. I took them for seven days, and at the end of the seven days, the feelings went away, kind of also coincided with the end of my period.
We've continued to have sex without any problems. Then my period ended again about two weeks ago and now the symptoms are back but now, it's more of a feeling like i have to pee a lot and a slight burning when I urinate.
What could this be???
My boyfriend had been tested and he is clean. Is there anyway this could be an STD? Could it be like a late manifestation? before this guy, I hadn't been with anyone for 6+ months.
Scared :(.

Hi fusha73, welcome!

Were you then experiencing any thick white cottage cheesy looking discharge that smelled a bit yeasty? That might have been a yeast infection. What method of contraception are you using? If you were/are using condoms could you be allergic to latex? Latex allergy while not too common can sometimes occur. If that's the problem then polyurethane condoms like Trojan Supra or Avanti might work well for you.
If you are on hormonal contraceptives I hope you were using a back-up method while you were on the medicine and for at least 7 days of continuous active pills, because some antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives for some women.

Frequent urination and burning are classic symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI). You should be tested to make sure that's what it is but if caught early UTIs are easily cured. To minimize the risk of UTIs you should stay well hydrated and urinate before and especially immediately after intercourse to wash any bacteria out of your urethra that was forced in during intercourse. Also drinking unsweetened cranberry juice or taking cranberry extract pills can reduce the chances of UTIs.
Let us know what your doctor says and how you're doing.
Good luck,
Jill
