question about cialis....
| Tue, 03-08-2005 - 4:06pm |
I have a question about Cialis and a possible side effect my husband is suffering. Does anyone here have any experience with this drug?
Thanks

Hi ianmom2three, welcome!
If you could be more specific perhaps I or other members might be better able to help you. The only posts we have had concerning Cialis were in the discussion at http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhgensex&msg=4215.1&ctx=0
The Cialis website is http://www.cialis.com/ and the prescribing information for Cialis (tadalafil) is: http://pi.lilly.com/us/cialis-pi.pdf
As far as side effects are concerned see: See table 7 in the prescribing information: Adverse Events occurring in more than 2% of study patients:
Headache, Dyspepsia, Back pain, Myalgia, Nasal congestion, Flushing* , Pain in limb,
* The term flushing includes: facial flushing and flushing
The incidence of some side effects increase as the dosage of Cialis is increased. Also in the prescribing information there are lists of medicines that can interact with Cialis or it with them.
It would be a good idea to discuss any side effects of concern with the doctor who prescribed Cialis for your husband. I hope this has been of some help. Thanks for posting.
Good luck,
Jill
Thanks...I have read the info and done tons of searches. The issue seems to be that while it works very well, it seems to leave him extreemly "sensitive" and even tender. I am wondering if this is a side effect of the med, or simply the fact that now things are more "firm" and he is having to adjust to that, after over a year of "not so firmness".

I suppose the tenderness could be just a side effect of him getting used to being erect again but that is a question you should ask his doctor. Is he erect for longer than is necessary for him to ejaculate? If he is erect for much longer than he needs to be (even if it is a good bit less than the 4 hours mentioned in the prescribing information) I think that could cause him to be tender afterward. Perhaps a lower dose of Cialis might be as effective without the sensitivity afterwards. If he is on the 10mg or 20mg tablets you might want to see what his doctor thinks about trying a lower dose and ask about the doctor’s experience with ‘sensitivity’ in his Cialis patient population. I hope you will let us know what the doctor says and how DH is doing.
Good luck,
Jill
