Sexual health q?

I've been having the same, recurrent problem lately, and I thought it was a yeast infection, now I'm not sure.
I sometimes have very mild itching, yellowish discharge, and painful inner labia, and then someitmes the symptoms go away for maybe a week at a time, only to return after any sexual activity (but not intercourse-- fingering or oral). It also usually really hurts right after doing anything sexual...
I thought this might be a yeast infection, but it's constantly going away and coming back. I don't really want to see a gyno, either, because that would mean I'd have to explain everything to my mom. Is this serious?

Hi michl_8705, welcome!
Hon, it may be a yeast infection, but you need to have your condition diagnosed (especially since it is reoccurring) to be sure what it is and that you are treating it with the proper medicine, otherwise it could get worse. Is there a public health clinic or a Planned Parenthood Health Center near you that you could go to? They will respect your need for privacy. Public Health is usually free and PP has a means based fee schedule for women who don't have much money.
Once you have your infection under control, be sure that you and your BF wash your hands before touching your genitals to minimize the possibility of putting bacteria in your vagina. If, when he is fingering you, you aren't aroused and well lubricated with your natural lube it would be a good idea to use a good water based lubricant such as Astroglide or K-Y Liquid as vaginal tissue can be easily chaffed. One more thing, I'm not saying you should avoid oral, but studies have shown that women who are given oral by their partners are far more likely to get vaginal infections than those who don't. Please see a doctor and get a diagnosis and the correct med so that you can put this infection behind you. Thanks for posting. Let us know how you're doing.
Good luck and hugs,
Jill
