Sex with initial pain...help!

Recently I started dating someone and we hit it off; Especially in the bedroom. However, shortly after our first encounter, I started feeling horrible pains when we first began sex, all of which would stop a few minutes in. I thought I was just sore.

Eventually, it turned out to be more than just pain. Discharge and everything else that comes with a yeast infection. I went to my doctor with concerns considering I had never had one before, got tested and everything, and it turned out to be just a damn yeast infection. Okay, whatever, I got treated. Oh ya, and I had him put some cream on as well, just in case I had given the infection to him.

However, weeks have gone by since then, and I still, quite often, feel the initial pain. I havent ever experienced this with any of my previous sexual partners. No idea what it is. What's worse, he describes his 'skin' as being 'tight and dry' after we sleep together, it's even cracked in one place putting HIM out of commission too! I'm thinking that the yeast infection wasn't completely cured in either one of us, and that its still somewhat there (we're passing it back and forth). But I have absolutely no symptoms other than this initial pain. I'm more afraid of it being something more, something physical and even permanent. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Im a student so I dont have regular access to my GP or else I would be asking this to her. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Steph, welcome!

Hon, you need to go to a doctor and be tested to see what's going on. It might be a yeast infection but it might not. If it is a YI you could be passing it back and forth. I think it would be pretty rare (but not impossible) for your partner to have symptoms from a YI even though he might be carrying the infection. For a good article in YIs see: Vaginal Yeast Infection: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001511.htm

If you are in collage your student health center should be able to make the tests. Or, you could go to your local public health clinic or a nearby Planned Parenthood Health Center. To find a PP Health Center near you call 1-800-230-7526. Thanks for posting. Let us know how you’re doing.

Good luck,
