Itchiness-problem?

Hi. I've been debating whether or not I need to make another appointment with my gyno. Here's the problem. I was diagnosed with BV about 1 month ago. I used the medication prescribed to me for the recommened time. It seemed to clear up. The smell is gone. I should say that this is my first problem in that area and I'm 30, so it's all new to me and I don't want to go to the doctor if I don't need to, so that's why I'm writing. Anyway, my vaginal area has been drier than normal. Before the infection, I was pretty moist. Especially, when aroused. Now, it seems drier and sometimes after my boyfriend touches me, it itches. I should tell you that it is upper portion (the labia) that itches-not my vagina. It seems that I need a longer time to recover before anymore activity. Is this normal? I bought some vagisil and have only had to use it twice. So, it doesn't itch all of the time. I have to admit, I've been kind of ignoring it, hoping it will just go away. No abnormal discharge. No pain. I've looked at my vaginal area, and it looks normal-pink not red. Thanks for any advice.

Hi jag302004, welcome!

Since you are recovering from BV it would be a good idea to touch base with your doctor. Tell Him or her what you told us and see what s/he recommends. You might not need an office visit. S/he may be able to relieve your mind or prescribe something other than Vagisil over the phone. Let us know how you're doing.

Good luck,
