A few questions on oral sex

I am post-meno and IC was becoming Very painful.   My doc put me on a low estrogen dose of vag cream and btw it works like a charm! LOL  Of course after inserting it at night, you need to shower the next day.  To back up a bit, when you first start using it, it's best to use it every night for a week or so, then taper down to once or twice a week -- whatever works for you.  I'm wondering if the residue leakage could present a real problem if ingested by way of oral sex, or if the residue could possibly harm my dh?  It is a very low dose of estrogen.

Also, a friend of mine recently started taking an antibiotic and her tongue became sore.  She has not talked to her doctor but it seems that she might have an infection called "thrush" which is not serious but is a side effect of the medication she is taking.  She also wanted me to post that if she has oral sex w/her bf, could he end up with this thrush on his private part?

Is there a way that I can email this message board to my friend so she can see that it will not bite her? LOL

Thanks so much for whatever information you may have on these subjects.  :-)

Hi sillycee, welcome!

>>I'm wondering if the residue leakage could present a real problem if ingested by way of oral sex, or if the residue could possibly harm my dh? It is a very low dose of estrogen.<<

I suppose it would depend on the concentration, frequency and amount ingested.
My guess is that it wouldn’t hurt DF, but I don’t know that for certain. Check the instructions and warnings on the container the cream is in and see what it says. It would probably be best to ask your doctor this question and get his or her opinion.

First, it would be a good idea for your friend to make sure exactly what her problem is by seeing her doctor. Assuming her problem is Thrush here is an article about it: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000626.htm “Thrush is caused by a fungus called Candida albicans. This organism lives in your mouth and is usually kept in check by healthy organisms that also live there. However, when your resistance to infection is low, the fungus can grow, leading to lesions in your mouth and on your tongue.”

Since the organism normally lives in the mouth my guess is that unless her bf has a condition that would make him susceptible to Thrush he would be safe from it. However, If she gave him oral and then he penetrated her vagina without wearing a condom and before washing his penis I think he could spread the infection to her vagina. It would be best for her to ask her doctor the question she asked us and to be guided by her doctor’s advice, but if I was her I think I would avoid oral for a while.

There is an option box in the upper right-hand corner of each post that has 'send to a friend' as the first choice. Click on that and fill in the information requested or copy the link http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhgensex&msg=4255.1&ctx=0 and send it to her.

Thanks for posting. Come back and let us know how you’re doing.

Good luck,
