Ok well I didn't really know where to put this post since it's health, sex and pregnancy related. Here's the deal, I'm about a week (almost 2) late and I normally have my period just before my sister. Turns out she got it last Thursday so it means that whatever is making me late is related only to me. Usually if I'm late she's late too but it's not the case this time.

I had safe sex with my boyfriend a few weeks back (almost a month ago) and I noticed that when I got home some dark brown/clear odorless discharge was there. This normally doesn't happen and it went on for a few days. It didn't resemble blood or anything...

Anyway, should this be anything that I should be worried about? I'm sorta stressing over the fact that maybe I'm pregnant... Any help would be GREAT!
Thanks! -xoxo-

Hi pinkorgasmz, welcome!

What do you mean by 'safe sex', what protection where you using? From your post it sounds as though you are cycling naturally and are not on hormonal contraceptives is that the case?

Cycling naturally there are a lot of things (diet, stress, illness etc.) that can delay ovulation and therefore delay your period, or, if you are on BCPs some women, on some pills, can skip an occasional period so you may be fine. If you had sex with your bf about a month ago then it's not too soon to test to see where you are. A good pregnancy test kit such as First Response is accurate as soon as 2 weeks after the event of concern.

The dark brown discharge is probably a little old blood (in which the iron had oxidized) mixed with your vaginal fluids which may have been your natural lube from arousal and semen as well, if you weren't using a condom. When you test I hope you get the result you want. If you have more questions please ask. Come back and let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Hi! What I meant by safe sex was that I used a condom. It has never broken or slipped off so I don't think I could be pregnant. I'm not on BC but if it continues to be irregular I might ask to go on it to make things "normal". I don't really think that I'm pregnant but it's constantly on my mind.... I'm gonna go get a test with my boyfriend on Saturday if I didn't get my period by then. Until then, I'll be crossing my fingers!
