Smegma? (along labia folds)

hey guys:
I was wondering what the term was to refer to the white, creamy like substance, that appears along the tops sides of the labia? ( I think it may be called "smegma", which is made of sweat glands or soemthing along that line).
I mentioned it to my doctor, but didnt seem very descriptive. I noticed that it can reappear withtin minutes, once it is "wiped" clean, after showering, etc. It has a weird smell to it, and can sometimes have a yellow tint.
Any advice would be great guys!
thanx :)

Hi Leesa, welcome back!
Some articles on Smegma. Vaginal Smegma http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/2546.html and Smegma: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smegma “Smegma, a transliteration of the Greek word for soap, is a combination of exfoliated (shed) epithelial cells, transudated skin oils and moisture that can accumulate under the foreskin of males and within the female vulva area. Smegma is common to all mammals, male and female.”
If the quantity of Smegma appears to be more than what you have been used to or is of a different color or scent that can be a sign of a medical problem. Have you seen your doctor about this condition or just asked for a definition? While the production of Smegma is normal if you are seeing differences in its quantity or characteristics you might want to see your doctor. Thanks for posting. Keep in touch and let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
HI:
thanx for your reply.
I had this checked last time i had a pap, doctor say anything wasnt normal. I will be going back for another checkup soon, so i will mention this to the nurse to see if there is reason to be concern.
I am just so annoyed with this Smegma substance, it's always there! lol. I always wonder if it would be evident during sxual intercourse/oral sex, that would make me more self conscious, as it would anyone im sure.
But, i believe it diminishes once someone is aroused. What do u guys think? Is it possible for some women not to have Smegma, or at least some may get it more?
thanx for the tips guys
Leesa :)
From the information that I've seen about Smegma all humans produce it to a greater or lesser extent as it is the collection of dead skin cells and naturally occurring lubricants. It can easily be washed away with water so depending on where it is I suppose your natural lube produced during sexual arousal could wash some of it away. It would be a good idea to see if your doctor has any advice. Come back and let us know what s/he says, ok?
Take care,
Jill
