STD question

Hi, I started a new relationship in my life and i'm really happy with my signifigant other. Everything is great. Except, I feel like I can't fully be close to him unless I get tested for STDs. I just want to be completly honest and open. I am scared and nervous to get tested though. I was thinking of asking him if we could go get tested together. It's just become something that makes me keep my guard up and I dont want to anymore. I also have this sort of redness and irritation on the inside cheeks of my bottom and vagina which I think could be a yeast infection coming back. Is there anyway to subside the irritation? Why do yeast infections keep coming back for me? Can yeast infections be spread if i have sex?Any advice on the subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

Hi nerd_clone2004, welcome!
I think being tested together is a great idea! The tests aren't really invasive they take a little blood and swab for tissue samples so it's not as though it's going to hurt and the feeling of confidence and intimacy you get from both of you having the tests done is amazing!
If you haven’t seen a doctor to get a proper diagnosis to make sure what you have is a YI it would be a good idea to do so, so you are sure to be using the correct medicine for treatment. With a YI you can reinfect yourself if the previous infection wasn't completely cured. That could happen if you didn't finish all the medicine proscribed or the medicine wasn't strong enough. Occasionally you can pass a YI to your partner who can reinfect you but that sort of thing is rare. To minimize the chances of YIs you should wear undies and pantyhose with cotton crotches and not wear wet bathing suits or exercise clothes for prolonged periods. Eating yogurt can also help reduce the chances of getting a YI. A good article on YIs is: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001511.htm If you have more questions please ask. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Let us know what you decide and how you’re doing.
Good luck,
Jill
Yes, your primary care doctor should be able to have the blood and tissue samples taken for STD tests and test for YI too if s/he thinks that is necessary to find out why you are being reinfected. Let us know how you're doing.
Good luck,
Jill
