bleeding after sex

My boyfriend and I have been having sex for a year and recently ive started bleeding after sex. My period became irregular, even though i'm on the pill and have been for 3 years. When we don't have sex for a couple days, I don't bleed, but as soon as we do again, I begin to bleed for a day or two. I'm really worried, and just wanted to know if anybody knew what it might mean, or what I should do? thanks

Hi tragicbeautyy, welcome!

When was your last annual? If you haven't had one in a while you might want to set up an appointment with your doctor to make sure everything is ok. It might just be that your pill is no longer quite right for you. If you are taking it correctly (on time, not vomited or had diarrhea within 2 hours after taking your pill, and not taking medicines or supplements that could decrease your pills effectiveness) you should still be protected. Keeping your endometrium stable during your active pills can be harder to accomplish than suppressing ovulation and sometimes hormonal contraceptives can make a women's cervix more susceptible to bleeding after intercourse. If your irregular periods and spotting after IC have been going on for several cycles so you know it's not a one time thing you can talk with your doctor about a pill change. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll come back and let us know what your doctor says.

Good luck,

      Jill
