I have a question and it might sound stupid but... this is the first time I'm in a real committed relationship. I've been on birth control for a while now, atleast 3 or 4 years... and I want to know if it is safe to have sex without a condom and he ejaculates inside of me. Is there a chance of getting pregnant at all? I know birth control is effective but I have never been in a relationship like this before and done this and I want to make sure that I will not get pregnant. Thank you for your help!

Hi Bella6982, welcome!

Hon, there are no stupid questions when it comes to sexual health and birth control. The answer to your question is yes, there is no 100% effective method of contraception, except abstinence. However, if you are taking your pills correctly (taking your pills on time not had diarrhea or vomited within 2 hours after taking your pills and not taking meds or supplements that would decrease their effectiveness) your chances of having an accidental pregnancy are very, very slight. Hormonal contraceptives are 98-99% effective and if you aren't comfortable with those odds you could use condoms or a vaginal spermicide in addition which will make the combination even more effective.
Millions of women use only hormonal contraceptives and as long as they are taking them correctly are very safe. Having DF finish inside me is a huge part of the pleasure of IC for me. When I was on OTC for three years my partners only used back-up when I was on antibiotics and I never had a scare. We would love for you to continue posting here but you might want to visit the Birth Control Board too, we would love to see you over there. Good luck,
