Hi essyvalo, welcome!

What kind of irritation is it? Does it itch or burn? Is there a discharge and if so what color and texture is it and does the discharge have an odor? Have you had genital contact with your bf or been doing anything differently that might be the source of the irritation? In the summer heat being in tight jeans, wet exercise clothes or swimsuits for long periods of time can trigger a yeast infection and sometimes women on hormonal contraceptives are more prone to getting them. YIs are a common vulvar/vaginal problem and are usually easy to treat and cure. A good article on Vaginal yeast infection is: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001511.htm

If this is your first experience with a problem ‘down there’ it would be best for you to see a doctor and be tested to see exactly what is going on. That way you will be certain to use the right medicine to correct the problem. If you are not familiar with the symptoms self diagnosis can sometimes lead to using the wrong meds and making the condition worse. Until you find out what’s going on it would probably be a good idea not to have intercourse.

If the doctor gives you a vaginal cream or suppositories be sure to ask if the medicine is in an oil based preparation. If it is you should not use latex condoms or other latex contraceptive barriers, because oil will quickly destroy latex. Polyurethane condoms are fine as they are not affected by oily meds. If you are on hormonal contraceptives and are given antibiotics you should use another effective form of contraception while you are taking the medicine and for at least 7 days of correctly and continuously taken active BCPs after taking the last dose of medicine. Thanks for posting. Let us know what your doctor says and how you’re doing, ok?

Good luck,

now when you say irratated...you mean like itchy...cause that can mean you have a yeast infection...but if you just feel like something is just not right down there you should go to a gyno cause it could be some kind of bateria infection that is totally cureable...but no sex for a little while...i learned that the hard way
