Discharge after Sex

Hello everyone!
I wanted to ask something... I'm, 22 yrs old and I think I may have a yeast infection, I had my 1st one a couple of months ago, my OB/Gyn prescribed a pill that took care of it pretty quickly. I had been infection free for two months now, also not sexually active, until last week. I started taking birth control last week (for the 1st time, Triphasil) and had intercourse a few days ago, and after that I noticed I have a discharge. It doesn't smell as strong as it did last time, but I worried it might be a yeast infection again. The consistency is watery, and its light yellow. Is there a way to prevent this? Is it from having sex? I keep myself clean and shower after sex, and I use Monistat towels to freshen up before and after sex. Does this happen to many girls out there? :-/
Help!!!

Hi silent_smile, welcome!
Being on hormonal contraceptives can make women more susceptible to yeast infections and some BCPs can cause more or less normal vaginal discharge as well. A thin yellowish discharge might be a YI but the only way to know for certain is to have a specimen tested. A good article about YIs is: Vaginal Yeast Infection http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001511.htm
Anything that upsets the vaginal pH can trigger a YI so I suppose it's possible that having intercourse without a condom may have made you more susceptible. It's always a good idea to use condoms until you both have been tested and found free of STDs. It’s best to have your discharge tested to see exactly what’s going on so if you need treatment you will be using the right medicine. Thanks for posting. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck
