Sex with bacterial infection?

Hello. I have a mild bacterial infection and am on metronidazole tablets for one week. Can I have sex while on them? They're taken orally.

Hi ea12345, welcome!

I have seen nothing that says sexual intercourse should be avoided while your infection is being treated assuming that you feel well enough for it, but you might want to ask your doctor what s/he advises.
A good article on Bacterial Vaginosis is: http://womenshealth.gov/faq/stdbv.htm Information about metronidazole at: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsDrugs/Metronidazolecd.html says that the effectiveness of birth control pills may be decreased while taking metronidazole so I would use condoms while you are taking it and for at least a week after the last dose of medicine. There is also a list of other things (at the above link) your med can interact with, such as alcohol, which you should know about. Thanks for posting. I hope you feel better soon. Please come back and let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
