Vaginal Odor

I have a vaginal odor and I cannot identify why I have it. I know that it is not a yeast infection because I do not have the burning that is usually associated with my yeast infections. I am sexually active. Any thoughts?

Hi riversends,
When did you start noticing the odor and did anything change in your life about that time, diet, medicines and supplements or boyfriend? What does it smell like and when is it noticeable? Answers to these questions may help you identify the source.
Often a yeast infection http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001511.htm or Bacterial Vaginosis http://familydoctor.org/234.xml will have other symptoms associated with them, but not always. If you are not using condoms and notice the odor after intercourse it might be your partner's semen that you smell. Semen can have an unpleasant taste and smell if his diet is high in meats and spicy foods. You might want to ask your doctor about it and see what s/he says. I hope this helps. Thanks for posting. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Hopefully whatever it was has now passed. If you had no associated symptoms besides an odor, then it should.
