Vaginismus Anyone?

Anybody out there with vaginismus? I have been married for 5 years with this problem and have yet to have complete full penetration. I am so frusterated and really having a hard time overcoming this. I would love to find someone else who is going through this or has overcome it so I know I am not losing my mind.

Believe it or not, we got pregnant with our DD by using an eye dropper because I couldn't wait any longer to have a child. Even after giving birth I can still not relax to have sex! Seems impossible. I totally don't understand myself.

Hi Emily, welcome to the Sexual Health Board!

We have had members post with symptoms of Vaginismus but there are a lot of other problems involving vaginal pain that might also be the cause. I’m sure you have researched it already but here are articles about Vaginismus: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001487.htm Dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse): http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003157.htm and Vulvodynia: http://www.nva.org/about_vulvodynia/what_is_vulvodynia.html

You are welcome to stick around but it would be a good idea for you to post to a wonderful iVillage Vulvodynia Support Board: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=iv-bhvulvodynia&nav=start They are a friendly group of women who know what you are going through and who can offer support and advice. Thanks for posting I hope the ladies on VS can help you. I hope you will come back and let us know if they are able to help. The very best of luck

Hugs,

Thanks for your reply. I looked at the articles and am pretty sure it is just vaginismus that I have. That is the name my doctor gave me too.

Hon, if you haven't posted to the Vulvodynia board already I think you really should. There are women there with all sorts of vaginal pain issues not 'only' Vulvodynia and they have a lot of knowledge and experience so they may be able to help you. You have been dealing with the problem alone for 5 years, why not post on Vulvodynia Support and see if they can help?

Hugs,
