Is my hymen broken?
| Thu, 10-27-2005 - 8:08am |
Hi,
I am a virgin but had oral sex in August with my fiance with whom I have broken up. Can I know if my hymen is broken or not after oral sex?
Is there some way I can get to know
1. If its broken and didn't bleed
2. It doesn't exist like in certain cases
3. It stretched first the time but didn't break?
Please help!!
Thanks

Hi chhaaya

I think it is very unlikely that your Ex damaged your hymen in any way when giving you oral sex especially if you had no pain or bleeding. It is very easy to see what your hymen looks like. All you need is a hand mirror and a light to shine on your vulva (external genitals) while you spread your labia and look for your hymen in the mirror. That way you will know what it looks, and feels like.
Hymens can differ greatly between women varying from thick and inelastic to thin and stretchy or sometimes none at all. Often the hymen opening can be stretched by gently inserting larger and larger objects over time. The nerves that provide the pleasurable sensation when you insert a finger are in the vaginal walls not the hymen so pleasure should not be diminished if your hymen is stretched. Here is more information about the hymen: http://www.the-clitoris.com/n_html/n_hymen.htm .
Before you become sexually active it would be a very good idea to have a pelvic exam and pap to make sure everything is ok and that your hymen won’t present a problem during penetrative sex. And when you do start having sex unless your partner has been tested and you are certain he is free of STDs you should use condoms because they are the only effective protection against most (but not all) STDs. Thanks for posting. If you have more questions, please ask. Keep in touch and let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
