Burning sensation after sex
| Thu, 03-23-2006 - 8:18pm |
If my husband does not wear a condom and ejaculates inside me, I have an extreme burning sensation afterwards. It burns! I'm on the pill and I have cysts on my ovaries, so I'm not too concerned about getting pregnant; he simply prefers not to wear a condom. I prefer the condom because of the burning sensation and it's not messy afterwards. Should I be worried about this burning? I asked my gyno and he said that the pH of his semen was probably off. But I wonder, if in the future we decide to have kids, will this be a problem?
Thanks for your help!

Hi scgonzalez, welcome!
There is no burning after intercourse when DH is wearing a condom, is that right? Are you well lubed with your natural lube and/or are the condoms lubricated? Did the burning start about the time of a diet changes or when you started or stopped any medicines or supplements?
Hormonal contraceptives can dry some women out big time! So if you aren't well lubricated with your own natural lube when DH isn't in a condom it might be that he is chaffing you and then his ejaculate just aggravates the raw places more. If that is what is going on you might want to try using an intimate lube like Astroglide (my fave) K-Y Liquid, Slippery Stuff or Replens etc. - and use lots of it - and see if that helps.
If an intimate lube doesn't help it might be that you are allergic to DH's semen. I think that is rare but it can happen. I don't think your discomfort would affect your ability to conceive but that is a great question to ask your Gyn.
Thanks for posting. If you have more questions please ask. I hope you find out what's wrong. Please come back and let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
