Something entirely new to me happened this morning, after IC with my boyfriend. Both of us are experienced, and still neither of us knew what was going on. After IC, it sort of felt like my cervix had been bruised, but about 15 minutes later, that changed to a fairly painful bloating in what I'm convinced is my uterus. It scares me to think I may have somehow gotten air trapped in my uterus, though there was no blowing air into my vagina (we've never been into that). It's been over four hrs, and I'm still quite uncomfortable, especially when I sit down, and as I stand up. It's definitely related to the IC we had, because it began immediately afterwards.
What could have happened? If it is air trapped in there, how likely is it, I'll have a uterine embolism??? Can anybody help answer this? Thanks in advance!

Hi bunki71, welcome!

I don’t think it is likely that you have had air forced into your uterus during ‘normal’ penile vaginal intercourse. Did you orgasm during intercourse? Sometimes pelvic engorgement can be very painful after IC if the blood filling your pelvis is not released by orgasm. Or, do you have any back or muscle problems? Here is an article about Muscle Pain Presenting as Pelvic Pain http://www.wdxcyber.com/npain05.htm which might be what’s happening.
If you are concerned about the possibility of having something forced into your uterus during IC you could wear a cervical cap to prevent that happening. That’s one of the reasons I use a cervical cap as my primary method of contraception because DF and I have IC in over pressure situations when diving.
If I were you I’d ask your doctor about the discomfort you are experiencing and see what s/he says. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Thanks for posting. If you have more questions, please ask. Let us know what your doctor says and how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Thanks so much for your post! No, I did not climax, but then I don't every time so that's new information to me (about all the blood filling the pelvis, etc). I forgot to mention that my BF is very well endowed, and now that the pain has mostly subsided, I wonder if maybe my cervix was just bruised?...
I'll take a look at that link also. Thanks again for replying. I definitely didn't enjoy the way I felt all afternoon!

Yes, If he rammed your cervix that can really, really hurt so that might be what happened but with me I know immediately when that happens! :( I hope you're feeling better. Keep in touch, ok?
(((hugs)))
