Hi ya'll-
I have one issue, and one question :)
My first 'issue' is that I have been sexually active with my guy for 3 months, and it has always been amazing and at first, it was never painful. However, in the past month, whenever he goes into me, it's really painful. It feels like he's too big for me, and we always have to take it slow so I can "get used" to him. Do we have something to be seriously concerned about? The pain only lasts a few minutes, at least until he's all the way inside me and we've started having fun :)
My question is in regards to the BCP. I'm on the pill, but we still use condoms, just in case, since I'm only on my second month. We would both like to stop using condoms, but I want to make sure that it'll still be safe. One of my girlfriends told me that he would have to pull out, even if I was on the pill, is this true? Does he have to pull out to ensure no pregnancy?
Thanks for your help!!!

Hi littlelady119, welcome!

Since you have been on hormonal contraceptives for only 2 months I think what may have happened is that over time your BCP has reduced your natural lube so you are much dryer than when you first began having intercourse. Reduced lube on BCPs is a very common side effect. If that is what happened you can try a good water base intimate lube, like Astroglide (my fave), K-Y Liquid or Replens. Don't use anything with oil in it because that will destroy latex condoms.

First, there is no method of contraception that is 100% effective, except abstinence. BCPs are 98-99% effective if used correctly and that’s pretty close. If you are comfortable with that level of protection then you don't need to use any additional method. Millions of women use BCPs as their only method of protection and use them very successfully. Theoretically withdrawal is very effective, however in the real world I don't think it is an effective method for most couples over time because it relies too much on the skill of your partner. If you feel you need another method in addition to the pill you might want to consider using the contraceptive sponge.
Thanks for stopping to post. If you have more questions please ask. Let us know what you decide and if the extra lube helps, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
