Hi - there doesn't really seem to be anywhere else to ask this question....Just recently started the pill, hadn't been on it in about 12 years...started my period on 7/31, then started the pill 8/5. Started bleeding again on the 17th, it lasted about a week. Since then, no period...and I had sex on the 25th of Aug....I've done three tests and they were all negative, but being a mother already, well I wouldn't be surprised if I am pregnant. Could being on the pill if preg bring up false negatives??? Tomorrow will be 40 days. I guess it's time to get some bloodwork. Any thoughts on this issue?

If a woman new to hormonal contraceptives begins her pills, patch or ring on the first day of her period she should be protected immediately. If she starts an oral or transdermal method on any day other than the first day of her period she will be protected after a minimum of 7 days of active pills or application of her patch or ring. The Birth Control board does recommend that back-up be used for the entire first cycle while the

Hi - thank you for answering! Well, some spotting showed up @ 41 days, but it certainly isn't a normal cycle. I know I have to allow my body time to get used to the pill, but I still feel really preg. I mean, it would be soooo much better if I wasn't, but there's a tiny part of me that wishes....anyway, twinges, sweating, exhaustion, breast swelling, I've felt it all before, so I'm going for a blood test this am. If not, I'll just chalk it up to the pill, but at least I'll know for sure :)
